About John Gwinn's Abstract

For over fifty years John Gwinn painted realistically.

Suddenly, he felt a strong unresistable inner pull to break free of the expected and known, and to enter into a spontaneous wild abandon, to an unknown new reality. Form and color became the way into a purely visual dance of ecstatic power.

These paintings represent a wild and free joy, love, sorrow and even despair. John feels these new paintings stand for the true heart and essense of being alive.
