About Flashing Exuberance
Flashing Exuberance is an exotic dance. It is a journey of passion, fueled by unexpected urges which he obeys without knowing why.
As an artist, John Gwinn considers each painting of Flashing Exuberance to be a failure UNLESS he is completely surprised by the completed art. Like making love, a true painting cannot be rationally planned — only experienced.
John moved from pure abstractionism to the painting of real life items because of a need to touch, to put his arms around what he is painting. He felt a tangible need to connect physically with his subjects. In fact, his chickens lived and ‘modeled’ in his studio for three years!
